“All the Dirts” refers to our Pinot Noir that is a blend of all the vineyards that we work with. We strive for this wine to be a reflection South Gippsland Pinot Noir, ready to drink from the outset, with layers of flavour, juicy mid-palate and a silky finish . For us, Pinot should be harmonious, balanced, beautiful and delicious.
In 2018 the grapes predominantly came from our own Holgates Rd (Dirt 3) vineyard, along with Berrys Creek (Dirt 1, Tilson (Dirt 2) and two new vineyards, Silverwaters and Lauriston near Westernport Bay.
The 2018 was an excellent vintage for growing Pinot Noir. The ripening season had lovely weather, mild and dry and yields were some of the best we’ve ever had, with near perfect fruit set occurring in Spring. The mild weather allowed grapes to develop full flavour and the wines are deeper and richer than prior vintages. We are really pleased with this Pinot, and follows on well from 2017. The wine is fragrant and perfumed, with the right balance of herbal complexity and bright red fruits. The pallet is soft and juicy, but with good structure. The wine is fresh and vibrant with deep colour and good weight and balanced acidity – a hallmark of good Gippsland Pinot. A great drink now, but will also reward cellaring for at least 5-8 years.
